We can suggest you to come to Bali Museum which is situated in the hearth of Denpasar City where can get much information about the island including local cultures.
Bali Museum is located in center of Denpasar City, exactly in Major Wisnu Street. In the north side, there is Jagatnatha Temple, meanwhile in front of it the Puputan Badung (Badung Courtyard) and four face statue (Catur Muka Statue) are located.
Bali Museum was been built by Governmental functionary of Dutch, Bali King, and Society Prominent in 1910 and finished in 1925. Because of the ancient object collection which had been collected is not yet adequate during 7 years, Bali Museum is opened for public in 8 December 1932. Bali Museum has 3 main courtyards same like a temple area, because the structure of Bali Museum resembling the temple and palace.
Bali Museum is divided into 4 main buildings includes Timur Building, Karangasem Building, Buleleng Building, Tabanan Museum.
Timur Building has 2 floors, the first floor is purpose to keep the prehistoric objects like : the Grave Petrify (sarkopag), the object collection coming from history era like: stupika clay containing superstitious formula Ye Te, the bronze statues (Hindu and Budha statues) and ethnography object collection like Keris. Meanwhile the second floor show the painting and curving from Balinese artist.
Karangasem Building is a place to keep the collection Balinese ceremony tools like Ngaben (the burn body who die ceremony), Metatah ( the teeth cutting ceremony), Telung Bulalnin ( the baby 3 month ceremony). Beside of that you can see Balinese Calendar as well.
Buleleng Building is a place to accommodate the collections of Balinese Clothes includes Endek, Gringsing and Songket. This also show the equipment to make the Balinese clothes.
Tabanan Building is a place to accommodate the collection of Balinese Music, Balinese Leather Puppet, Balinese Mask and also Barong & Rangda. Barong and Rangda is Balinese mythology history where Barong is good power, meanwhile Rangda is representing bad power.
